The Need For Roots
Empowering people doesn’t mean simply leaving them alone or giving them rights; people need relationships based on love & hope as well. In this paper, ‘The Relational Basis of Empowerment’, authors Karl Nunkoosing and Mark Hayden-Laurelut explore how we are with each other, starting from the very basics of our humanity, and shows how this can be a fruitful way of understanding many of the problems we struggle with in complex welfare systems. This must be one of the roots we value more – our very relationships with one another.
