EVENT: Professional Childminder Information Sessions, Elgin, 6th and 25th October

MWH Admin TeamEvent

Moray Council and UHI Moray are hosting information sessions for women interested in becoming a registered Professional Childminder.

Moray Council and UHI Moray have been working with Jane Munro (JCP) on creating a Professional Childminding programme, and those interested are now invited to informal information sessions to find out more.

Mags Smith (Childminding Development Officer) from Moray Council will be delivering the Information Sessions on the realistic virtues of becoming a registered Professional Childminder within Moray.

UHI Moray will also be in attendance to discuss career opportunities (with relevant training) that could be available for anyone wishing to pursue their knowledge within Childcare.

This relaxed Information Session in a warm environment aims to support anyone who has future prospects of becoming a Childminder:

  1. What is a Childminder
  2. Becoming a Childminder
  3. Support for Childminders
  4. Meet our Childminders

They have arranged 2 x Information Sessions to share information about the opportunity and training, which will take place at Moray Pathways Hub, The Inkwell, Francis Place, Elgin

Part 1 – Thursday 6 October 1pm-2pm

Mags from Moray Council will cover the following topics:

  1. Talk about responsibilities that come with childminding
  2. How this could work in your home environment along with flexibility to support your family needs
  3. Discuss the support that is available to you in order to pursue this career and extend your knowledge within Childcare
  4. Any Questions

Part 2 – Tuesday 25th October 11-12pm

Mags from Moray Council will cover the following topics:

  1. Applications for Childminding
  2. Meet our Childminders  (The Good, The Bad and the Ugly)
  3. Setting up a business and the financial costs and how this links with Universal Credit and other benefits
  4. Any Questions

This is a targeted audience purely for women due to the needs and requirements to ensure the wellbeing of everyone who may attend the Information Sessions. We want to ensure that inclusion and safety is paramount during these sessions.

The Information Sessions have been booked within school hours, however if you are interested in attending and have pre-school children, you will have access to a registered Childminder within the Moray Pathways Hub to support Childcare needs.

The Information Sessions are free to attend and there is absolutely no obligation to then sign-up to the training course at UHI Moray, these are purely information sessions to find out more about what is involved.

If anyone would like to pursue Childminding as a Career further, then they must be in receipt of benefits to access the course being delivered by UHI Moray, however there are many exceptions available, and the team at JCP can advise if customers are eligible.

If you are interested in attending, please email jcpmoray.employerandpartnershipteam@dwp.gov.uk including if any childcare is required and for how many, as there are limited spaces available.
