EVENT: Stress and Trauma Management Workshop (TRE®), Saturday 25th June, 10am-3.30pm

Introduction to Stress and Trauma Management (TRE®)

“To be traumatized is to be condemned to endless repetitions of unbearable experiences” Peter Levine

Stress and trauma can have serious physical, psychological and social consequences for us all. The discomfort tends to affect the body as much as the mind. For that reason, “talking about” – or just relying on medication – may be insufficient for healing. We need to include the body.

This is a full day workshop will introduce you to the theory and practice of TRE – Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises – a set of easy-to-learn exercises that many have found surprisingly effective in breaking the vicious cycle of stress and arousal. The exercises are designed to release chronic muscular tension that is held deep within the body, caused by what we have been exposed to, and thus restore wellbeing.

Brief background information is offered to enable understanding of the physiology and psychology behind stress and trauma, and the impact on daily functioning.

The workshop is open to everyone interested, whether you suffer from mild consequences of stress, feel more deeply traumatised – or work with these types of clients as a professional (and could be at the risk of “secondary traumatisation”). You don’t have to be in good shape, but there are some precautions for people with certain medical conditions. Therefore, you are asked a few questions when signing up.
