NEWS: Support for Parent and Infant Mental Health

MWH Admin TeamNews

Moray Wellbeing Hub are exploring what works well to support mums and dads, from pregnancy through the first few years of their child’s life, focusing on the power that peer-support can bring.

This is part of a continuing project that aims to boost mental health and the wellbeing of those involved, and to create learning to help improve the services of the future in Moray.

We are conducting a survey to hear the views of parents across Moray, and to gauge how accessible peer-support is, and how we can improve it. We also want to hear about the range of experiences around wellbeing and mental health challenges experienced by Moray parents, and to find out who might be interested in getting further involved by sharing experiences, ideas and becoming a peer-researcher.

You can complete our survey here.

You can also find out more on our Parental and Infant Mental Health Project Page or on our social media pages.

NHS Grampian have also recently announced the launch of a community perinatal health, which has been developed in partnership with service users, clinical staff and third sector partners.

The team will provide a secondary care specialist service for those aged 18 and over, along with their families, across Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, and Moray. They are a specialist multi-disciplinary team providing care and treatment to women who are pregnant or postnatal and are at risk of, or are affected by, mental illness.

Mental health problems are not uncommon during this time but they are known to respond well to timely care and treatment. The team will support patients via telephone or NearMe consultations, outpatient appointments, and home visits if required.
