Moray Wellbeing Hub CIC (MWH) is delighted to announce their latest project aimed towards ‘collective action’ that will run over the next three years, until March 2025.

The project aims to help MWH to strengthen and grow their Champions – a collective of individuals who want to use their experiences of mental health challenges to help themselves and others. Project activities will increase wellbeing in Moray by encouraging members to remain active citizens and challenge discrimination and stigma. This project will be funded with an award from The National Lottery Community Fund, made possible by National Lottery players.

Moray Wellbeing Hub have some big plans as part of this project. This includes a return to meeting up in person by hosting monthly Champion events, either in nature or at local venues, in communities across Moray. Open to all, events such as Conversation Stations and pop-up cafes will be coming to towns across Moray in the summer months providing topical conversation and a way to connect with others.

Alongside these events the team will be taking an active listening approach to understand the issues affecting the folk of Moray, empowering all to take action.  The digital connection will also be supported with a weekly newsletter to keep folk updated on all the activities being planned throughout the length of the project. You can sign up to receive the newsletter HERE.

With all activity delivered by visible peers, every aspect of MWH’s work involves lived experience and ensuring that fellow peers have a range of choice and flexibility on what they want to contribute and how. “We actively encourage those with lived experience of any mental health condition or long-term health conditions to join us and take action to make change in our communities” explains Social Movement Lead Heidi Tweedie, “We want to empower people to have the skills they need to do anything from leading campaigns that challenge stigma and discrimination, to feeling confident to share views about local services. There are many positive aspects to peers leading in wellbeing and we want more people to know about this.”

The National Lottery Community Fund, Scotland Chair, Kate Still, said: “National Lottery funding can make amazing things happen in local communities across the country. This project delivered by Moray Wellbeing Hub CIC, is a great example of community activity in action, showing just what can be achieved when people come together for a common cause or to help others. National Lottery players can be proud to know that the money they raise is helping to support this vital work and to help communities thrive.”
