EVENT: Age Scotland Dementia Coffee Conversations, Friday 18th February 2022, 10:30am

Spend an hour chatting and learning about topics of interest over tea / coffee/ cake!

In our monthly online coffee conversations, we explore, in an informal and relaxed atmosphere, different topics of relevance when supporting people living with dementia to be more included and active. If you care for, work with or support someone living with dementia, or if you live with dementia yourself, please come and take part: share your ideas, questions and experiences and hear from others. We will pass on information and resources and generally keep the conversation going.

On Friday February 18th from 10:30am-11:30am, we’ll focus on carers and their rights. Rachel Davison, who leads on carers’ rights as part of the Dementia Training team, is delighted to be joined by Lorna Hart-Thomson of Alzheimer Scotland and Breda Seaman from Dementia Friendly Dunblane. Lorna is the team leader of Alzheimer Scotland’s Action on Rights team, who are available to help carers, families and friends of anyone living in Scotland’s care homes, and will talk further about this project and the support offered for carers. Breda Seaman established Dementia Friendly Dunblane in 2017, creating a dementia friendly community to ensure that people with dementia and their family carers can live as fulfilling lives as possible in a supported community.

We will hear further from the speakers and discuss their experiences, as well as considering how carers can be better supported and empowered to access their rights. You can book a ticket here.
