NEWS: New Diabetes Network Launched by ALLIANCE

MWH Admin TeamNews, Resource

A new diabetes lived experience network hosted by the ALLIANCE was launched on Thursday 9 December.

There are over 312,000 people living with diabetes in Scotland. The newly refreshed Diabetes Improvement Plan with its eight priority areas to improve outcomes for people living with diabetes is an opportunity to continue the progress made on the plan first published in 2014. It is also important to learn from the experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the different ways in which diabetic services have been delivered, particularly digitally.

To ensure the delivery of the Diabetes Improvement Plan is influenced and informed by people with lived experience of living with, and being at risk of diabetes, the ALLIANCE and Diabetes Scotland are supporting the creation of a Diabetes Network to directly hear about people’s individual experiences. Our aim is to ensure people are at the centre, that their voices, expertise, and rights, drive policy and sit at the heart of design, delivery and improvement of support and services.

The network will bring together people affected by diabetes to discuss and feed back to the Scottish Government as the Diabetes Improvement Plan is implemented.

If you have any questions, please get in touch at diabetes@alliance-scotland.org.uk  or phone 0141 404 0231 and ask for Louise Rogers.

To join the network, complete the network joining form and if you are comfortable to do so, the equality monitoring form (available here) and email them to diabetes@alliance-scotland.org.uk
