Local Champions invited along to an evening of fun and games!
A Halloween fundraiser in aid of Alzheimer Scotland has been organised to raise much needed funds for this worthy charity.
Alzheimer Scotland provides information, support and dementia-friendly activities to help make sure nobody faces dementia alone.
Dementia affects the brain, making it harder to remember things or think as clearly as before. It’s an umbrella term for over 100 different types of illnesses and disease symptoms. Symptoms of dementia may include memory loss and difficulties with day to day tasks, language and problem-solving.
In Scotland alone, over 90,000 people have dementia. It is most common in older people but can affect people in their 40s and 50s or even younger.
We do not yet know exactly what causes dementia. Medical researchers all over the world are working to find causes and develop treatments, and fundraisers like this can add much needed funding to research and support.
Taking place at 2-4 Thornhill Place, Forres on Sunday 31st October, from 4pm-10pm, there will be prizes for best fancy dress for both adults and children, most creatively carved pumpkin, as well as ‘how far can the broomstick fly’.
Food and drink will be served from 5pm-8pm (please bring your own cup/mug for hot drinks) and all the family can take part in ‘dooking for apples’, ‘bat the rat’ and a raffle with some great prizes donated by local businesses.
Then as evening descends, there will be a more quiet time from 8pm, with games for the grown-ups held under cover from the elements, before finishing at 10pm prompt.
Please be aware of other residents in the street as some may not celebrate Halloween therefore care should be taken not to disturb. If travelling by car, please park away from the street and walk in to minimise risk to children.
Current Covid guidelines should be followed and remember to wrap up warm as it’s an outdoor event!
