NEWS: Moray Firth Credit Union Seeking New Board Members

Moray Firth Credit Union (formerly Forres Area Credit Union until 2020) was set up in 1995 as a response to high unemployment in the Forres Area when a nearby Fabrication Yard closed.

The main office of the ‘Savings & Loans Co-operative’ is at 53 High Street, Forres though we have plans to expand to set up ‘satellite’ collection points in other places as the Social Enterprise develops.

We need to recruit new Board members from across the new ‘field of membership’ of Moray & Nairn. Some of our longstanding Board members shielded and subsequently retired when the ‘lockdown’ happened in March 2020 was announced. During COVID we have hosted zooms every fortnight with the remaining members of the Board to keep abreast of changes. We also remained open for Business on restricted hours so we could support those who use the Credit Union as their bank. We have a minimum number on the Board of 5 at present but 15 are permissible under the Rule Book which is our Constitution.

If you have an interest in people and have some spare time we would be delighted to hear from you and can provide a Board of Directors Pack for further information and an application. We expect all volunteers to join the Credit Union if they are not already a member.

For a pack to be sent out please call 01309 676735 or e mail maggie@morayfirthcreditunion.co.uk
