TRAINING: Age Scotland Dementia and Veterans courses
Like many other organisations throughout Covid-19, Age Scotland had to work differently in 2020 and have responded with creativity, energy and innovation.
Whilst they hope to revert to some face to face training in 2021, their Zoom training is definitely here to stay!
All courses are free and will be delivered using Zoom. This means you will need a laptop or tablet which has access to the internet and a functioning microphone and speakers. If you’re unfamiliar with using Zoom, support is available to connect in advance of any of the courses you sign up for.
Community groups and organisations have increasingly turned to videoconferencing platforms to keep their activities going and their members connected. This is challenging in itself, but becomes even more challenging to include people with dementia in these activities. However, Age Scotland have learnt quickly what works and what doesn’t work, and what you need to do differently before, during and after online group activities to make them inclusive of people living with dementia. They also have a body of knowledge and experience from groups and organisations which have been connecting people with dementia remotely since long before lockdown.
In these sessions they share what has been learned so far and discuss new ideas, suggestions and experiences from participants. It is a really great opportunity to learn and think about the steps you need to take to include people with dementia in online group activities. This course is being run on the following dates:
