NEWS: Early Learning and Childcare Employability skills course – AB56 Futures

Are you interested in Early Learning and Childcare and would you like to improve your employability skills?

The AB56 Futures project from Action for Children is running a course aimed at young people and adults aged 16 years and over who are interested in pursuing a career within early learning and childcare. The course focuses on childcare and early years, but we also spend time on developing employability and transferrable skills too!

The course runs 4 days per week for 6 weeks from 9:30am – 12:30pm.

You will be introduced to many features of early learning and childcare including:

  • Safeguarding children and child protection
  • The importance of play
  • The development of a child and factors affecting this.
  • Health and safety
  • Equality and diversity
  • GIRFEC & SHANARRI

As part of the course, you will have independent work to complete including tasks linked to taught sessions, online learning activities through the Open University Free Courses and Action for Children, focused on childcare related topics and the Action for Children iDEA project which focuses on entrepreneurship and employability skills.

As well as this the learners will take part in employability workshops which includes:

  • Goal Setting
  • Identifying Skills, Qualities and Attributes
  • CV’s and Cover Letters
  • Confidence building
  • Job Searches
  • Teamwork

These are to assist you in building these skills in preparation for entering or re-entering theworkforce.

We have a new course starting at AB56 Futures base at Lady Cathcart School, School Lane, Buckie on Monday 31st August 2020.

This will be a classroom-based course.
