Job Description

To develop and co-ordinate a new (Mentoring Young Talent ) programme for care experienced and disadvantaged young people.

To deliver a employability /mentoring programme to targeted groups of young people, support mentors and to ultimately improve future pathways.

To work with partner providers to ensure a wide range of pathway opportunities are available within the programme.

Requirements

Recruit, train and support volunteer mentors to provide 1:1 support to young people.

Provide 1:1 and group work to care experienced young people and disadvantaged young people to improve their educational outcomes and future pathways.

Develop and manage the project, developing productive working relationships with colleagues, partners and employers

Research, prepare and effectively report information. Use appropriate systems for communication, storing and retrieving information.

The Individual

Experience and knowledge of working with disadvantaged young people within equalities groups and with additional support needs
Experience of developing and delivering group work and 1:1 support to young people
Relevant qualification or equivalent work experience in a related discipline, Social Sciences, Health or Education/Youth Work/Community Learning and Development
Can work on own intiative with miminal supervision
Confident to deliver group work to young people and adults (mentors)
Collation and provision of management information
Self confident and self motivated
Effective communication skills, oral and written
Ability to maintain effective partnerships and positive relationships with young people, colleagues and partners.
Ability to manage and develop a project
Understanding of the importance of quality improvement
Enjoyment of working with secondary aged young people who are disadvantaged or have additional support needs
Ability to follow current GIRFEC/Child Protection guidelines and have working knowledge of current policies and procedures .
You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service.  Due to the rural nature of Moray this is normally undertaken by use of a car.
Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal and the ability to communicate with people at operational and strategic levels
Ability to work under pressure and self management
Ability to form productive working relationships with colleagues, partners agencies and employers
Appreciation, acceptance of and a commitment to the importance of confidentiality
Ability to manage workload independently
Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs and demands of the service
Ability to work in an open plan/shared office
Ability to work in different offices depending on the needs of the service
