MWH Admin TeamEvent, News

The Farmers Choir, NHS Dumfries and Galloway, Dumfries and Galloway Council and NFU Scotland amongst other Stakeholders are hosting an event on November 6th from 6 – 8pm to in the Scottish Parliament Garden Lobby.

This event is an opportunity for people from both Scotland’s rural community and health care community to come together, network and raise awareness of the issue of social isolation felt by many across rural Scotland. The event will hear from speakers – including the Minister for Older People and Equalities, Christina McKelvie MSP – and from the National Farmers Union Scotland, NHS Dumfries and Galloway, Dumfries and Galloway Council and the choir itself.

It is important to raise awareness of social isolation and how it has impacted many across Scotland. Human beings are social by nature, and a lack of human connection can lead to many issues of mental health. Social isolation can cause depression and in extreme cases lead to thoughts of suicide. Mental health is an issue of increased concern here in Scotland and we must to do what we can to support the network of those living in rural Scotland.
