MWH Admin TeamResource, Training

SuicideTALK is a short exploration and awareness-raising session aimed at all members and groups within communities

As part of Suicide Prevention Week, Moray Council are offering suicideTALK, a 90 minute session from the nationally accredited training programmes from ChooseLife/LivingWorks.

There are 3 start times: 09.00am, 11.00am and 2.00pm and the sessions will run at Training Room 2, Moray Council HQ annexe.

Council staff can register in the usual way through CLIVE. For NHS staff and other agencies, please email: martin.kirwan@moray.gov.uk

By dispelling the myth that talking about suicide promotes suicidal behaviour, SuicideTALK provides a foundation for suicide prevention. It aims to reduce stigma around suicide and promote awareness within the community. It also provides an opportunity for networking among participants.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session participants should be able to:

  • Describe suicide as a community health problem in quantitative and qualitative terms
  • Describe some of the personal and social factors behind suicide
  • Help overcome taboo about talking about suicide
  • Describe how individuals, groups, communities and society can improve suicide prevention and intervention
