Writing in Bella Caledonia about her own experience of mental health treatment, or rather the lack of it, Catriona O’Sullivan makes an emotional plea for urgent action now, before too many more lives are lost.

From her GP she was sent to a community hospital, feeling suicidal and told the waiting time for treatment was one year. While sympathising with the overworked NHS staff, she feels that many people give up all hope when faced with a long waiting time for treatment due to under-funding.
