Campaign: Call for rural people to take part in working group to highlight early intervention in psychosis.

Jim McCullochCampaign, News, Survey

Support in Mind Scotland are involved in a Scottish Government Working Group to highlight the importance of early intervention in the diagnosis and treatment of psychosis. They are keen to ensure that rural people, who often miss out on opportunities to participate in interventions such as this, don’t miss out this time.

Led by the Chief Executive, Frances Simpson, Support in Mind Scotland have the aim of “Action for people affected by mental illness”. She seeks help to reach and consult with people in rural Scotland on:

  • The lived experience of people of people who live with or have experienced  psychoses and their families/supporters and how they currently experience services and treatment
  • The availability of good care and treatment – focusing on early intervention and good follow through in different areas of Scotland
  • The gaps and solutions for very rural areas where services are sparse or a long way away

For further information read Early Intervention in Psychosis in Rural Areas. Alternatively, contact us at Moray Wellbeing Hub as we would like to help support a Moray input in to this work.
