News: Kindness, Emotions and Human Relationships: The blind spot in public policy

MWH Admin TeamNews, Report

Today, the Carnegie UK Trust launches Kindness, emotions and human relationships: The blind spot in public policy, a report written by Carnegie Fellow, Julia Unwin CBE, and informed by a series of roundtables and events across the UK.

This report brings together all that they have learnt over the last two years. It acknowledges the strong arguments against kindness, but argues that the great public policy challenges of our time demand an approach that is more centred on human relationships. It also emphasises that this is an issue of urgency and import: with technology and artificial intelligence transforming our world at speed, it is imperative that we invest equally in our emotional intelligence.

The report also includes insights from the first ever quantitative survey on kindness. The full data set will be published separately on World Kindness Day, Tuesday 13th November.

The hope is that Julia’s extraordinary reflections on the role of kindness in public policy act as the start of a conversation, and the Carnegie Trust would like to involve you in this ongoing debate.
