Reflection: Culture Day Forres – Champions out and about on Tolbooth Street

MWH Admin TeamNews, Reflection

Last Saturday was Culture Day in Forres and the Moray Wellbeing Hub Champions were there working in partnership with Transition Town Forres (TTF) to provide a café on Tolbooth Street along with conversations about mental health.

Although it proved to be a windy day the café was busy with around 60 people met and chatted to, along with quite a few families as well. 8 Champions came along during the day to help out and a big thank you to Rachel and Andrew from TTF for food and a warm welcome!

The conversations were lively and interesting:

“One man I spoke to me told me had had depression issues – I was delighted he was able to tell me that! “
There were several who attended who showed significant interest in becoming a Champion and were given our business cards and encouraged to email the Hub.
It was also an opportunity for Champions to share their experiences with each other:
“I was glad to catch up with fellow Champions (including meeting new ones), meet MWH supporters, and also to have good chat…
I am glad I pushed myself to come through, despite my lack of energy (the) positive experience encouraged me to attend more MWH ‘out-n-bout’ events.”
The raffle raised about £120 towards supporting our outreach work and “much stigma was poked and hope was provided”.
Thank to everyone who helped on Saturday – you were all epic!  A special thanks to the Transition Town Forres people for sharing in this adventure.
