News: 69% of Scots have witnessed people being unfairly treated because of their mental health.

See Me, the national programme to end mental health discrimination, has said this statistic demonstrates that people still face unacceptably high levels of discrimination. They have called on health and social care providers, schools and employers to take action to end mental health discrimination.

The Our Voice Citizens’ Panel Survey also found that only 40% of people would be willing to speak to their manager about their mental health, and only 57% would be willing to have a relationship with a person who has a mental health problem. However 90% of people would be comfortable talking to another person about that person’s mental health and 94% would speak to a health professional about their own mental health.
