Moray Wellbeing Hub: Peer support Self-management group – update February 2017

- Group agreement and information leaflets have been updated
- New peer trainers to run group in pairs from February 2017

The peer support self-management group has been running since December 2015 and in this time it has been led and organised by one facilitator with support from other skilled peer-leaders.
The group has self-identified a need for clarity in the focus of the group and some changes in how it can be run. Additional to this is the need to share the leadership of the group amongst the now much wider peer trainer pool in the Moray Wellbeing Hub.
From February the group will now be run on a rota basis with two peer trainers from our pool taking their turn to bring new ideas and creative approaches to self-management, linked to WRAP or Living Life to the Full course materials and other self-management tools.
Other ideas that have been suggested by group members including having guest speakers and social events, have been noted but will not included within the monthly meeting to ensure that it stays focused. However, they will be taken forward in other Hub activities and group members will be encouraged to both help plan and deliver these by becoming Hub Community Champions.
As with all Hub activity, we continue to reflect and learn from the group as to what is working and how we can address the need for support to use self-management approaches toward wellbeing in Moray – group members and facilitators are vital in leading any changes as part of our co-productive approach.
The evaluation of this group will be part of our final year end reports in April 2017 and the group will be reviewed again in summer 2017, including exploring the need for new groups as part of our focus on supporting peer support.
