Training with Scottish Trans Alliance

Training with the Scottish Transgender Alliance – Elgin Youth Cafe
This training will give participants the knowledge and awareness they need to provide more inclusive services and spaces for transgender young people. The workshop will look at the language and terminology used to describe transgender people and their lives, so that participants feel comfortable and confident talking to young people about these issues. It will also give participants information on current legislation that protects trans young people, so you know what is required of your organisation. Information about various trans-specific services for young people will be given, so you are able to signpost people on for addition support where this is appropriate. There will be a variety of small group exercises throughout the day, including looking at case studies, which will give participants an opportunity to think about some of the challenges trans young people are facing and the sorts of things your organisations can be doing to decrease these barriers to participation. The day will also be a space where participants have the opportunity to learn in a supportive environment, and will be encouraged to ask questions and give concrete examples of issues that have arisen during their work that they would like to learn more about. The training is free but there would be a £20 charge if people do not show up on the day as spaces are limited.
