WellbeingForres is a project supported by Transition Town Forres to increase access to wellbeing activities for over 50s. We hosted a stall at the event to support the event and let people know about what we offered that could compliment the things on offer. Thanks to our Champion Helen for sharing her reflections from this event:

“The event was focussed on activities that promoted Wellbeing for people over 50 in the Forres area.  It was very well attended with a steady stream of people coming in for most of the afternoon.  There were a number of workshops or taster sessions timetabled in.  I went along to the half hour relaxation session.  This was more mindfulness meditation than the traditional relaxation sessions most of us are used to.  The session was very popular with over 25 people  there.

I met half a dozen people who were circulating around the information stands who had heard of the Moray Wellbeing Hub and were keen to hear more.  I spoke to four or five people at other stands.  A lot of them were interested in holistic ways of  supporting personal wellbeing through the use of arts and crafts for stress reduction.  Also people who felt that having hobbies of any kind was important. Definitely a sense that emotional health and wellbeing is not just all in the mind.  Our physical health is very important; so there were cooking sessions as well as Zumba and Belly dancing.”

Certainly there seems to be al ot that we can learn from in terms of what people want to try for wellbeing and we will be continuing to explore options in Moray to make such projects accessible.
