Recognising that people are experts on themselves and that everyone has mental health which is affected by life challenges, participants learn about mental health recovery and how to create their own WRAP plan using personal experiences and new ideas generated in the group.
WRAP has been developed as a peer support group experience and is available to anyone in the community who wants to explore their wellbeing, plan for crisis and help manage challenges in their life. Our courses are supported by partners including the Scottish Recovery Network and the Moray Health and Social Care Partnership (Moray Council & NHS Grampian).
This is a creative course and every workshop is different based on the skills and interests of the facilitators and participants involved. All facilitators use WRAP in their own lives and are either accredited by the SRN quality assurance scheme or are working toward this standard.
People attending have found WRAP useful in exploring and addressing challenges around a range of issues, such as employment, long-term health conditions, parenting, retirement, relationships, addictions and physical fitness.
What is a WRAP workshop?
A creative and interactive peer support experience that introduces using a Wellness Recovery Action Plan to help individuals take more control over their wellbeing. You can read more about WRAP at the Scottish Recovery Network website.
What makes WRAP different?
WRAP focuses on the power of the peer connection and key recovery concepts (Hope, Personal Responsibility, Self-Advocacy, Self-awareness, Support). It is facilitated by two SRN Quality Assured facilitators, who use WRAP in their own lives to support their wellbeing.
Who can attend?
The course is open to anyone seeking wellness. This is not a professional development course for workers, but personal development for anyone of any background. It is accessible and requires no formal training or educational standards – we look to support anyone interested in attending and are happy to discuss your support needs.
I’m interested in WRAP as a supporter, not directly for my own wellbeing. Is this workshop for me?
No, the powerful experience of a WRAP workshop relies on a peer to peer approach. We encourage you to attend our WRAP awareness training for supporters (contact us for details). We can also organise training in your workplace or group, please contact us directly for details.
How are places allocated on the workshop?
Applications for places will be looked at by the WRAP Moray Facilitator Group and spaces will be allocated on the basis of these answers. We are looking for participants that show commitment to personal growth and self-management.
The application questions are not designed as a test, but by providing answers it helps us to support you in the workshop. We don’t mind if you want to get a friend or supporter to help you complete the application, but we don’t accept referrals – we only offer course places to those who want to come, not those who are sent by someone else.
I’ve attended this course before, can I come along again?
If you have attended a workshop before we are happy to receive your application, but please be aware we try to balance those looking to revisit courses with the numbers of new people keen to attend. It is worth noting that we will be running shorter courses in the future as refreshers and have a monthly peer-support self-management group – sign up to our newsletter via our website to keep up to date.
