The Elgin Wellness Centre have now announced their Winter Wellbeing Festival activities, which will run from 3rd – 13thJanuary. No referral is needed to attend these events!  People can book their own place on an activity of interest and choice using the attached booking forms, or pre-printed copies available at the Wellness Centre. News: Inside a pioneering Croatian mental health centre.

Although the geographical focus of the Moray Wellbeing Hub is centred on Moray it can be sobering to learn about conditions for those with experience of mental health issues in other countries who face enormous difficulties in their lives.  A recent story in The Guardian highlights one such case in Croatia.  There, despite the government having signed up to the UN’s Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 10 years ago, many people are still held in ‘traditional’ assylums. Event: Glasgow Homelessness Network need your help!

The Glasgow Homelessness Network, GHN, are hosting a series of conversations across Scotland asking the question, ‘Can we fix Homelessness in Scotland?’ – they say ‘Aye We Can!’  There is an event in Aberdeen on Friday 15th December at The Citadel and they are offering a £10 voucher to all who attend as well as covering your travel expenses!  More details below or go to the website.

News: Young people to explore new mental health service solutions in Scotland.

The Scottish Government has today announced a new partnership with SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) and Young Scot to establish a Youth Commission to gather evidence and offer solutions on how mental health services for young people in Scotland can be improved. Over the next 15 months a group of young people, aged 14 to 22, will come together to collaborate and gather evidence from the government, key stakeholders and experts, communities and peers to provide a series of solutions and recommendations for action and implementation. As part of the hub’s ongoing commitment to promote the voices of people with experience of mental health problems in Moray to creating national change, we are supporting this research in to civic life and the barriers that can face people from particpating (i.e.volunteering, standing for community groups, becoming MPs etc). Living Golf are having a Christmas Tournament!  It is being held at Covesea Golf Links between Hopeman and Lossiemouth.
