Magic Casements - Talk

with Author Howie Firth

Free but reservation recommended
Author, Howie Firth, says that it's all right to feel not at home with this world - it's not a sign of a problem but a call to opportunity, to the open road and new horizons. We may often feel that there is something wrong with us if we don't fit into a settled pattern of society, but our feeling of unsettlement can be a nagging reminder that there are things that we really should be doing. Clues may come from varied places – walking on the hills, swimming in the sea, reading poetry or trying to probe areas of history.
This promises to be an intriguing talk!

Moonwrite - Reclaiming Our Lunar Connection

with Helen Moore

Free but reservation recommended
A creative writing workshop with poet and writing tutor, Helen Moore.
The word ‘lunatic’ has become a negative term, associated with mental ill health, or behaviour that’s seen to be extreme in some way. As a culture we have simultaneously disconnected from natural rhythms, which our ancestors would have once deeply observed. The lunar cycle influences us in many ways, and can accentuate our moods and feelings. Reclaiming our lunatic connection can promote greater self-awareness, wellbeing and an important sense of our creative rhythms. No previous experience of creative writing is required to attend.
